Halley

Halley a rescued Golden Retriever.Golden angel 'Halley" passed away August 24, 2008. Halley was one of the infamous El Camp puppy mill Goldens, rescued in January, 1998. Halley was a charter member of Gold Ribbon Rescue in Austin, Texas. Her life began tragically as a breed animal in a barn in El Campo, TX.

Halley was an angel extraordinaire and her gentle spirit and sweet temperament were shared with all who met her. Coming from such horrible conditions and lacking early social skills, with love and kindness she grew to shine. She proved to be a wonderful volunteer, giving back to the world that had first abused her.

She embodied the true spirit of a golden rescue and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that senior Goldens still have lots of energy and love to share. Her greatest honor came when she was crowned 2007 THERAPY PET PAL VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR. She worked tirelessly to promote golden retriever rescue, service dogs, and pet adoption. And shared her golden love with nursing home Halley a rescued Golden Retriever.and assisted living center residents and Special Olympics children through her work with Therapy Pet Pals of Texas, Inc.

Thank you Halley for gracing this world with your golden goodness and for helping to make this world a better place for everyone whose life you touched with your healing spirit.

Brenda and Steve Hampton and son Bryan Miller

Remi

Remi, or Hildebrand's Remington Noelle, was born December 18th, 1996 in Brownfield, Texas and left this earth July 20th, 2008 at Fischer Veterinary Clinic in New Braunfels, Texas.

Remi held her head high in the political arena and devoted a great deal of her life campaigning for her favorite candidates, such as Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed, President George W. Bush and Mayor Henry Edwards of Live Oak, Texas.

She was a constant presence at Live Oak City Hall, attending council meeting with her mom, Suzanne Hildebrand, who served on the City Council. She was co-emcee for several Memorial Day and Independence Day parades and was loved by all who had the chance to know her.

Remi brought tremendous joy to her parents, Suzanne and Ray. When Ray had a stroke in the spring of 2008, Remi was allowed to stay in the hospital with him. Her manners, as always, were impeccable and she was welcomed wherever she went.

Remi was an insulin-dependent diabetic and was treated by her lifelong veterinarians, Michael Aven and Kent Fischer. The quality of life she enjoyed and passed on to others was due, largely to the competent and loving care her doctors and their staff provided her.

Remi was deeply loved and is deeply missed.
