Ruth Brook and Rocky
Rocky is of unknown parentage, but he has a very large family of people who love him. When asked what kind of dog Rocky is, Ruth says, "He is a very important therapy dog." And that he is.
His life began as an abandoned dog on the steps of a shelter. Today Rocky works at the Remington Medical Resort in San Antonio. He goes from room-to-room visiting patients in rehab. He sits quietly, if that is what the patient desires, or he can go with them to the rehab gym and lay quietly while patients brush him or tie a bandana around his neck, to strengthen weakened muscles, tune up fine motor skills and increase manual dexterity.
Rocky doesn't understand all those big words, but he does understand the hand of a friend on his back or scratching his ears. Every Monday there is a change in atmosphere at the Remington...it is "Rocky's Day."
What a guy!
